Vipers & Lifeline

I'm proudly supporting Lifeline.

These last few years, I have found my life and the lives of friends and family around me directly affected by mental health and suicide
It's scary how quickly you can go from being ok, to really not. Small things compound to a point where it feels so heavy there's just a fog you can't see past

Becoming a dad changed my perspective on everything, too. I think a lot about the example I set for my little girl and the legacy I will leave behind

Since joining Vipers Run Club, I've been lucky to be surrounded by an incredible community that normalises these topics, provides me with a platform to learn and upskill myself in accidental counselling and, more importantly, makes these conversations normal and part of daily life

I'm taking these skills into my other communities, family, work, and friendship networks, and I know they are having an impact. I now have conversations with my dad, wife, and mates that I didn't know how to have four years ago.
This year, I’m challenging myself by running some big distances to raise money and make a meaningful and tangible impact. Together, we can turn those statistics into a powerful force for change

Movefor60
I will run 80 km while participating in the Move for 60, a relay event with Vipers RC starting on World Mental Health Day, Thursday, October 10th, at 6 am and running continuously until 6pm Saturday, the 12th, for a total of 60 hours.
Every 60 minutes, 60 men lose their lives to suicide around the world... this is a statistic that just shouldn't be true; it's leaving holes in families, friendship groups and workplaces on a frightening scale, over 10,000 men per week

Bondi2ManlyUltra
I will run 80km on October 26th in the Bondi to Manly Ultra event.
Every call to Lifeline Australia costs $39 to answer, and last year, over 1,000,000 calls were made. I'd love to help fund 80 Lifeline calls for the 80km I'll be running during the move for 60 and the 80km ultra I'll be running on October 26th

This might sound like a drop in the ocean, but it's 80 times that someone is on the other end of the phone to listen when you or someone you love needs help
I’m doing this to raise awareness of the impact of suicide on individuals, families, and communities and, in particular, to encourage more men to reach out for help and connection in their time of need
75% of suicides are men. Only 25% of calls to Lifeline are from men

Every 24 seconds, a person reaches out to Lifeline for help. They are supporting more Australians than ever before, and they've never been needed more, which is why I hope you can support my efforts this year

Each donation, no matter how small or large, can make a difference. It means Lifeline can answer more calls from people in crisis and ensure their services will be available tonight, tomorrow night, and every night to help Australians in crisis through their toughest moments
