I'm getting active to support Lifeline.

Hello, my name is Darcy.

When I was 11 years old, my family’s world began to change. My dad was battling severe mental health challenges and substance addiction, and he was in and out of rehabilitation during that time. It was confusing and painful to witness as a child.

Through it all, my beautiful mum became our anchor. While trying to protect my brother and me from the instability and heartache surrounding us, she was also managing the enormous responsibility of running our family home and business. There were staff to support, bills to pay, and endless pressures behind the scenes — yet she carried it all with strength and determination. She kept us safe. She kept the business going. She kept our family together.

In 2011, my parents separated, and my dad left. His struggles continued, and in 2014, he tragically took his own life. My mum was the one who found him in our family home — a home he no longer lived in.

Although my dad was the one who died that day, suicide deeply impacted all of us. My mum, my brother, and I have carried that grief, shock, and trauma ever since. Suicide doesn’t just take one life — it leaves lasting pain for the families and loved ones left behind.

In Australia, more than nine people lose their lives to suicide every single day. It’s a heartbreaking statistic, and it’s why I’m raising funds for Lifeline — to help ensure their services are available anytime, anywhere, for anyone who needs them.

Every 24 seconds, someone in Australia reaches out to Lifeline by phone, text, or online chat. That’s someone’s parent, child, sibling, or friend seeking support in one of their darkest moments. With your help, we can make sure there is always someone there to listen — without judgment, 24/7.

Please consider supporting my fundraiser. Every donation, no matter the size, helps ensure that no one has to face their toughest moments alone.

Together, we can create hope. Together, we can save lives.

Thank you so much for your support.
