I’m raising funds for Lifeline because I believe no apprentice, tradie or young worker should ever feel like they have to face their struggles alone.
Working in the trades can be rewarding, but it can also come with enormous pressure. Long hours, financial stress, workplace pressure, relationship problems and the expectation to simply “toughen up” can make it incredibly difficult for people to speak about what they’re going through.
I want to help change that.
Through my Tools Down, Talk Up initiative, I want to take the conversation around mental health directly into the trades — onto worksites, into schools, at trade expos and into the wider community.
A major part of this is supporting Lifeline, an organisation that provides vital crisis support to Australians when they need someone to talk to.
Where your donation goes
Every donation raised through this fundraiser will help support Lifeline and its work providing crisis support and suicide prevention services.
My goal is to use my platform as a tradesperson and advocate to raise awareness, start conversations and encourage people to reach out for help before they reach breaking point.
I’ll also be using upcoming media opportunities, public speaking, expos and industry events to promote the importance of mental health and encourage apprentices and tradies to look after themselves and their mates.
Why I’m doing this
I don’t want “How are you?” to just become something we say.
I want people to actually stop, listen and be there for each other.
You don't have to be a mental health expert to make a difference. Sometimes simply noticing that your mate isn't themselves, asking the question and being willing to listen can be the first step towards getting someone the help they need.
Put the tools down. Talk up. Check in. Speak up.

I’m incredibly proud to be representing Tasmania as the 2026 Skills Tasmania Apprentice of the Year, and I want to use the platform I’ve been given to make a real difference, particularly for the people working in our trades and construction industries.
