You don’t have to be alone to feel lonely these holidays.
Said (pronounced ‘Psy-eed’) knows that all too well.
One New Year’s Eve, he went out with his mates to watch the fireworks. But even though he was surrounded by celebrations, Said felt incredibly lonely.
“It was this deep sense of not belonging. I kept on walking and found myself staring out over the water, thinking that there was nothing in life for me.”
These holidays, you can help us be there for someone who finds themselves in their darkest moment – just like Said.
Said’s feelings are all too common at this time of year. It’s a time full of pressures – to buy gifts, to be sociable, to seem happy and to be grateful.
Lifeline Crisis Supporters understand how difficult the holidays can be. They understand that, even when surrounded by those you know, people can feel completely alone.
Last December, Lifeline received over 115,000 requests for help from people across Australia. On average, that's between two and three requests for help every single minute of December across our phone, text and chat crisis support services.
When someone reaches their crisis point, we know how important it is for them to be met with compassion and empathy, and to find connection with someone who cares.
You can help us be there to listen to everyone who reaches out for help.
Please, donate today and help someone like Said find connection and hope this holiday season.
