I'm proud to support Lifeline
G'day Everyone, as many of you know, I have been growing out the pony tail express for a decade and now feels like the right time for a fresh start by shaving it all off! In doing so, I want to raise awareness of and start conversations around mental health and raise money via Lifeline. Lifeline is a fantastic charity that provides 24/7 support to anyone that needs it via phone, text & online chat.
2025 has been a tough year for me, for many in rural communities and communities more broadly. I’ve always felt a lot of feelings, often quite strongly; so dry times in 2024-2025 has meant that I’ve felt uncomfortable feelings more frequently and deeply than other times. Sadness, depression, anxiety, addiction, climate anxiety and suicide. These can be challenging things to talk about, especially as men and especially for stoic people in agriculture and in fact for many of us. Despite how hard it can feel at first, talking about it has definitely helped me and I've found the more I talk about it with others, the easier it becomes to find the words for my feelings and to navigate these situations.
Having a great support network of close family & friends around me helps me through life’s challenges and my emotions. However when these support networks aren't there for us or can't give us what we need in those moments, Lifeline fills the gap. A massive gap, that is filled every 24 seconds in this country by Lifeline.
The wonderful Western Flat community has been kind enough to host the Shave on Saturday 22nd November; after our home cricket home match at Western Flat v's Bordertown Colts.
Please join us if you can at Western Flat on Saturday. Whether you can join us or not, please take this as inspiration to be courageous and have the conversations with the people close to you that you need to have! If you can at this time, any donations would be much appreciated!
