Walking 65km in support of the 65,000 Australians who attempt suicide each year

September is suicide prevention month, I'm raising funds to support suicide prevention efforts across Australia. Mental health challenges touch so many lives, whether it’s a friend, a family member, a colleague, or even ourselves. The reality is heartbreaking, an estimated 65,000 Australian's attempt suicide each year and around 3000 tragically lose their lives. This September I will be walking 65km to represent the 65,000 people who struggle with their mental health battles each year.

This isn’t just a number, It’s a staggering reminder that too many people are struggling in silence. That’s why I’ve chosen to take on this challenge and raise funds for Lifeline Australia, a service that provides 24/7 crisis support and suicide prevention across the country. 

Every step I take is for those who feel like they can’t go on, for those we’ve lost, and for those still fighting.

Lifeline supports people when they need it most, the crisis support workers answer over 1 million calls, texts, and chats each year from those who are struggling with their mental health battles. 

Unfortunately the number of suicides in Australia continue to climb each year, it is estimated 1 in 6 Australians experience suicidal thoughts or behaviours in their lifetime.
