A letter to myself 12 months ago (or to anyone else that needs to hear this)

There is positive change coming.

I know that you can’t see that right now. I know that you don’t even know how you’re going to get through the day, let alone the next year. Your mental health may be testing you at the moment, but this letter is a reminder that it doesn’t need to stop you from becoming the person you want to be.

You can completely change the trajectory of your life.

You can pull yourself out of a dark place and have a beautiful life.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from the last year, it’s that making progress and changing can be really, really hard. Especially if you don't feel ready for it.

It’s slow and repetitive.

It’s challenging and hard to remain consistent at times.

But the beauty of this life is that growth can sprout in the most unexpected places.

You might not feel completely ready for change. But the day will come when your old life won’t fit anymore.

The day that this happens will be confronting.

Don’t be afraid, lean into it. You are more resilient that you know.

Give yourself the chance to build the version of you that facilitates your most fulfilling life.

I want you to realise how powerful you are.

I know that is the opposite of how you’re feeling right now.

But you need to know that you have the power to choose how your life goes.

The power to choose to start over.

The power to love yourself everyday.

You will get through all the hard days. I promise you.

Remember to take deep breaths. Make tiny changes. Reflect. Make mistakes. Cry. Start again. Feel everything. Be vulnerable. Back yourself. Be fucking proud of the progress you’ve made.

In a years time you are going to be so proud of the countless hours you put in to heal and grow.

Hi everyone! My story 🌼

Hi beautiful people! Firstly, thank you for taking the time to read this. It means a lot to me. 

This Feb, I am undertaking a personal challenge to walk 100,000 steps in one day (approx 80km). I'll be kicking off in the morning of Sat 18th around 2am and it should take me around 16 hours (with a few snack breaks in between!)

Why am I doing this?

Firstly, I am doing this to challenge myself, mentally and physically. 🙌🏼

Secondly and most importantly, I want to complete this walk to raise money for Lifeline. 

This time last year I was in a very different headspace. I was working through some personal issues, struggling with my PMDD and was in the midst of changing my anxiety medication (those chemical imbalances were tough). To be quite honest, I was really struggling.

Lifeline was there for me in some pretty tough times, and now twelve months on, I am so glad to say, I've never felt happier or more proud of myself. 🥹

I feel incredibly grateful for every minute the wonderful Lifeline volunteers have spent on the phone with me. With that in mind, I wanted to do something to give back by sharing my story and getting out of my comfort zone by being vulnerable. 

As Brene Brown says; "vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change". I really do feel that vulnerability is the only way we can truly connect as humans.
